If it was a HR Block franchise that did your taxes, don't blame HR Block in general. Franchise is independantly owned. Don't include all HR Blocks. There is Corporate and Franchise. But, if you didn't get your full refund, continue speaking to the IRS because there's usually a reason, and 99% of the time you didn't get your full refund, was you didn't tell your tax preparer the whole story!

i rceived terrible service from h&r block. i paid them to do a return for my business and they completely messed it up. it was such a fiasco!!!! i contacted the manager and waited for weeks for her to fix the problems that she said she would. after an extended wait while she was on vacation, i finally contacted the owner of that branch and did meet with him to attempt a correction, i say attempted because he didn't do any better than his employees in accurately filling out the forms. when i called back that day and told him that there were still problems on my return he promised to meet me again to fix them but never did. i finally went to another franchise and had them redone for the third time. the office manager who finally did my taxes correctly said this was the worst job of tax preparation she had ever seen. i spoke several times to the corporate offices in oklahoma and always got the run around. i did finally get a portion of my money back but it was in the form of a gifr certificate to h&r block for tax work...wow.

If you didn't get your entire refund then the IRS reviewed your return and found what they believe to be an error or they disallowed something or you owed back taxes, student loans or child support. Unless you told the preparer about owing monies they wouldn't be able to advise you correctly. If IRS disallowed something HR Block will defend return unless you failed to divulge correct information. A joint return is something every preparer is trained to do - for most returns it's not much different then a single person. Except if only one spouse owes monies and a joint return is filed and the spouse doesnt' file an injusred spouse form so their portion of the return is not used to pay the other spouses obligations. AGAIN be honest and up front with your preparer to avoid such problems or at least get the tax advise that is best for you.

The warranty known as Peace of Mind only covers taxes owes if the IRS says that disagree with the way the taxes were prepared. If you owe back taxes, child support, fines, ect.
Starting this tax season, our clients sign off on what they brought in.(W-2's , 1099's, ect.) If the client did not bring any other income not reported on their tax return, Peace of Mind will not cover it.

And why didn't you get your complete refund? Did you owe back taxes? Maybe back child support? Or maybe you had unreported income? Tell the complete story so all of us understand what really happened.

Get up off your butt and make an appointment and talk to the office manager. Maybe you have a valid complaint, maybe you don't.
